Acting responsibly in our own operations

For us, responsibility means acting today in a way that preserves the world for tomorrow. In our business, we put this into practice by using resources sparingly and fostering a strong sense of social cohesion. PrismaLife’s commitment to society is driven by our staff and their ideas.

Core elements

Careful use of resources

PrismaLife is committed to the responsible use of resources in its own operations.

  • Liechtenstein tap water: By switching from bottled drinks to local tap water, we are reducing our environmental footprint in terms of transport and waste.
  • Renewable energy: We source electricity for our own premises from a green electricity tariff (solar power: 70 per cent, hydroelectric power: 30 per cent).
  • Business travel: Where possible, we avoid air travel in favour of rail. Air travel requires the approval of senior management and is only undertaken if the itinerary does not allow for a viable environmentally friendly alternative.

Health management

The health of our entire team is important to us. That is why we support our staff with a wide range of initiatives to help them look after their own health and take a proactive approach to healthcare. Our health programme includes:

  • A financial grant of up to CHF 1,000 for sport, environmental and health programmes. You are free to choose which activities to fund: from a gym membership and a day pass at a ski resort to visits to thermal spas and private train journeys
  • Financial contribution towards lunch at nearby restaurants
  • Ergonomic working conditions thanks to height-adjustable desks in the offices
  • Free drinks and fruit for all staff

Active support for staff

At PrismaLife, active support for staff is essential to delivering a high standard of service. This includes:

  • Covering the costs of further training as part of staff development
  • Making it easier for female staff to return to work after maternity leave
  • As specialists in sustainable wealth creation, we attach great importance to ensuring our employees have an excellent pension provision. That is why PrismaLife voluntarily makes a higher contribution to the occupational pension fund than is required by law

Core elements

Sustainable resource management

PrismaLife AG invests in a sustainable way and also focuses internally on sustainable management of resources.

  • Liechtenstein tap water instead of fizzy water from PET bottles: Membership of the ‘Drink & Donate’ project helps to support drinking water projects in countries with a precarious water situation. In 2018, the consumption of Swiss and Liechtenstein tap water provided more than 53,500 people with long-term access to clean drinking water.
  • By avoiding microplastics and palm oil in soaps
  • By using recycled paper
  • By dispensing with printouts

Health management

A broad-based health management programme is designed to make it even easier for employees to do something for their own health. This includes

  • Financial subsidies for sports clubs or fitness centres
  • Financial participation in lunch
  • Height-adjustable desks in the offices
  • Weekly fresh seasonal fruit baskets and a lunch menu based on sustainability standards with ‘Felfel’ from Switzerland
  • Massage programmes

Active employees promotion

For PrismaLife, the active promotion of employees is a prerequisite for providing a high level of service. This includes

  • Financial support for training and further training as an insurance specialist, training as an actuary and MBA programmes
  • Easy return to work for employees after maternity leave

From Liechtenstein for Liechtenstein

PrismaLife has close ties to the Principality of Liechtenstein. Through donations to regional organisations, we aim to give something back to the people of Liechtenstein. For example, we support the BVB Evonik Football Academy, run by FC Ruggell, to enable children to take part in social and sporting activities, as well as the community garden in Ruggell.

Our mission statement: We work together, thoughtfully and with enthusiasm

PrismaLife is made up of dedicated and highly qualified staff who have been with the company for many years. We adopt a management approach that puts people first and actively embodies our corporate values.

Back in 2018, following an intensive process of discussion and development, PrismaLife drew up a set of core values centred on treating one another, our customers and our resources with care and consideration. The values process, initiated by senior management, has been and continues to be driven by the commitment of our staff. At PrismaLife, we operate in accordance with our internal Code of Conduct and Integrity: together, thoughtfully and with enthusiasm’. These values provide a framework for collaboration and day-to-day operations. ‘Together’ stands for trusting collaboration, characterised by team spirit, reliability and mutual respect. ‘Mindful’ describes a careful and responsible approach to decision-making and the use of resources. Each individual takes responsibility for their tasks whilst keeping the bigger picture in mind. ‘Vibrant’ stands for passion, innovation and a zest for life.

Responsible human resources management is particularly important for the development of our company. This is because only with a team of well-trained, healthy and satisfied employees can PrismaLife position itself on the market in the long term as a specialist or niche provider. That is why our human resources policy aims to ensure the long-term retention of our employees, as well as to foster the development of their skills – both within the context of the company and on an individual basis – and to promote their health.

Another factor is the ability to balance family and work. PrismaLife offers excellent working conditions in this regard. The flexibility of working hours is particularly attractive: ever since PrismaLife was founded in 2000, we have offered our staff the option of working part-time. In the ‘Family-Friendly Liechtenstein’ survey conducted at the end of 2023, 84 per cent of PrismaLife employees surveyed agreed with the statement ‘All in all, I can say that this is a very good place to work’. The goal- and value-oriented management style practised at PrismaLife received particularly high approval ratings: 95 per cent of employees agreed with the statement ‘I can discuss issues relating to work-life balance with my line manager’.

Environment and climate: mindful in everyday life

Part of our efforts to ensure a future worth living is to manage and, where possible, optimise the consumption of resources and the climate-related footprint arising from the company’s operational activities. Key factors here include energy consumption and the associated climate-related emissions, primarily from business travel, journeys between home and work, and office operations. In addition, we consider issues such as paper consumption, waste and recycling, and water consumption within the company.

The guiding principle is: reduction and innovation take precedence over offsetting. Offsetting only makes sense where there are no options for reducing emissions and no scope for process improvements. In this way, we ensure that genuine reductions in emissions within our operations take precedence over the purchase of offset credits.
