The premium payer is the person who pays the agreed insurance premium. The premium payer may be identical with the policy­holder but does not have to be. In the case of tax-privileged contracts (so-called Riester and basic pensions), payment of the premium by third parties is generally not possible. If a third person pays the premiums, he or she does not acquire any rights from the insurance contract.
