Stefan Opel appointed new CEO of PrismaLife AG
On 1 April 2026, Stefan Opel will take over as CEO of PrismaLife. With his many years of experience in the insurance and financial services sector, he will continue to drive the company’s successful course. Tobias Moser will in future be responsible for the financial and risk management of PrismaLife as Chief Financial and Risk Officer.
Holger Beitz, who has shaped PrismaLife as CEO for more than a decade, is retiring. Volker Schulz is leaving the company at his own request.
PrismaLife also wins European gold in the ESG ranking
Among Europe’s leading insurers, PrismaLife achieved a ‘Gold’ rating in Zielke’s ESG ranking and has once again moved up one place to third in the overall ranking.
PrismaLife achieved outstanding results, taking first place in the ‘Investment’ and ‘Governance’ sub-categories, as well as second place in ‘Environment’ and third place in ‘Social’.
PrismaLife reports a significant increase in new business and Surplus
PrismaLife AG expects a strong financial result for 2025. Based on preliminary figures, new business is set to increase by around 10% compared to the previous year (€25.1 million). PrismaLife also expects a significant rise in annual surplus.
PrismaLife on the Winners’ Podium in the ESG Ranking
PrismaLife AG has once again achieved a “Gold” rating in Zielke Research’s sustainability reporting ranking and significantly improved on last years’s result in the overall insurance sector ranking, moving up from last year’s 6th place to 3rd place.
PrismaLife delivered outstanding results with 2nd place in the “Environment” sub-ranking, as well as a top score shared with thirteen other insurers securing 1st place in the “Governance” category.
PrismaLife grows in 2024 despite challenging market Environment
PrismaLife published its 2024 annual report today. Premium income rose by around four per cent to EUR 136.8 million, and new business also developed excellently with a growth of around 25 per cent to EUR 25.1 million. The annual result improved to EUR 1.3 million.

Sustainability Report 2023 awarded with gold medal
PrismaLife’s Sustainability Report 2023 has once again achieved a gold medal in the Zielke Ranking. Compared to other insurers, PrismaLife is in 6th place and has improved by two places compared to the previous year.
PrismaLife also scored top marks in the sub-scores, leaving far bigger groups behind.
Sustainability Report 2023: CO2 targets achieved ahead of schedule
PrismaLife AG once again records progress in its sustainable corporate strategy. This includes environmental issues as well as social and employee matters and governance issues. The core areas are the company’s investments and the investment options for customers.
The CO2 emissions caused by our own business operations continued to fall. They fell from 29.0 to 21.4 tonnes of CO2e. This means that PrismaLife has already surpassed its target of reducing emissions to below 25 tonnes.
Top-ranked in PAI reporting
Not all insurers report thoroughly on Principal Adverse Impacts (PAI) – that is, the avoidance of adverse effects of investment on environmental and social factors. PrismaLife has now taken first place in the Zielke Research agency’s ranking with a score of 9.5 out of 10.
The top-ranked companies prioritise transparency, climate awareness, social responsibility and governance standards in their investment strategies.
Net profit for 2023 rises by 30 per cent compared with the previous year
Despite significant reluctance on the part of many consumers to take out new pension policies, PrismaLife performed well in 2023. Like the sector as a whole, PrismaLife also saw a decline in new business involving single premiums, but recorded growth in regular premiums. Interest in PrismaLife AG’s pension solutions remains high.
As a result, the number of new policies was increased once again, particularly due to the continued strong performance of the business in Belgium.
Gold for PrismaLife’s sustainability Report
PrismaLife has once again been awarded a gold medal in Zielke Research’s insurance sustainability ranking. With an improved score compared to the previous year, the ESG report for 2022 achieved eighth place in the overall ranking of 48 insurance companies analyzed. In the sub-categories environment and social PrismaLife even achieved 4th and 3rd place, respectively.
Sustainability Report 2022: First external assessment of CO2 key indicators
PrismaLife has already neared its emissions target – 50 percent fewer CO2 emissions than in 2019 by 2030 – in 2022. And this despite stricter and extended criteria. These and further reviewed data are contained in the Sustainability Report 2022.
Significant growth in existing and new Business
PrismaLife can look back on a successful 2022 business year. Gross premiums written increased by 3.2 percent to 141.3 million euros compared to the 2021 financial year.
New business grew by 12.1 percent and single premiums even increased by 19.2 percent. The good business development is also reflected in the solvency ratio: it increased to 183 percent in 2022.
Significant increase in the overall Rating
PrismaLife AG has once again received an international award for its Sustainability Report 2021.
As one of the smallest companies in the group of 12 insurance companies examined, PrismaLife achieved 4th place and a gold medal in the sustainability ranking of the analysis company Zielke Research Consult.
Changes in the shareholder structure of PrismaLife
PrismaLife strengthens the successful cooperation with Barmenia, which acquires further shares of PrismaLife.
After the 25 percent stake in 2021, Barmenia now holds a total of 75 percent. Through intensified collaboration, new opportunities arise for both partners.
Successful year draws to a close

At the MCC Congress on “Sustainability in the Insurance and Financial Industry” on 5 October in Düsseldorf, CEO Holger Beitz will speak about the influence of capital investment on sustainability goals. The topic will be discussed in greater depth in a panel discussion on the perspectives of sustainable capital investment, which will be hosted by Prof. Dr. Florian Elert from the HSBA Hamburg School of Business Administration.
Management expanded
As of September 1st 2022, Alessandro Tulli will strengthen the management of PrismaLife AG as Chief Innovation Officer. Together with Holger Beitz and Volker Schulz, the doctor of law will implement the internationalisation strategy of the Liechtenstein pension specialist.

Double appearance of PrismaLife at the Finance Forum
At the Finance Forum on September 13th in Vaduz, PrismaLife was in the spotlight twice: CEO Holger Beitz discussed sustainable investments with Mirjam Staub-Bisang, country head of BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager. Targets for sustainability exceeded
In the reporting year of 2021, PrismaLife reduced its CO2 emissions by 82 percent to 6.5 tonnes – due to Corona-related travel restrictions and the change in the energy supply contracts. Also the share of sustainable investments held by insurance customers has doubled, but here the pension specialist sees much potential for increase.
Kick-off for the football camp 2022
Managing Director of the PrismaLife AG, Volker Schulz opens the BVB evonic football camp. For 65 children, an exciting week with many interesting training sessions with the coaches of the BVB, lies ahead. The camp lasts for one week and ends with a festive award ceremony and the presentation of medals and certificates, which will be presented by PrismaLife CEO Holger Beitz.
PrismaLife continues its internationalisation Course
The Liechtenstein-based pension specialist achieved a net profit of 4.2 million euros in the 2021 financial year. After entering the market in Malta, PrismaLife has now taken over a portfolio of death benefit insurances in Belgium.

Semiannual report 2021
PrismaLife posted a positive business result for the half-year term of 2021. With the result of about 3 million euro the insurance specialist from Liechtenstein reaches a good outcome. The growth of new business of around 5 percent is also part of this result.

On August 13th the opening of the new outdoor-trainingtower for young and old took place in Triesenberg. This innovative recreation offer is free of charge and is meant for everyone to keep fit. Using different modular accessories, various exercises can be constructed to support different training levels. The Sportkasten is part ot the ProBono project by the institute for architecture and spatial development of the University of Liechtenstein.
Sustainability report 2020
PrismaLife AG has presented its second sustainability report for the year 2020. The results show that the company was able to save more than 30% of its CO2 emissions in 2020, compared to the previous year. The keys to success were CO2 reductions in operations and, above all, a consistently sustainable orientation of the capital investment.

Many customers took advantage of free additional payments
According to preliminary figures, PrismaLife AG bucked the market trend and achieved premium growth of 1.4 per cent to €134.4 million in the 2020 financial year. Many customers took advantage of the option of free additional payments. The range of sustainable investment options was significantly expanded.
Cooperation between PrismaLife and Barmenia confirmed
PrismaLife AG and Barmenia Insurance Group have successfully implemented the previously announced investment. As a result, Barmenia now holds 25.1 percent of the shares in the Liechtenstein life insurer, which will in future act as a centre of competence for international offerings of unit-linked life insurance.
